Patent Attorney Michael Smith
Michael Smith is a patent attorney located in our Melbourne office. Michael has science and law degrees and post-graduate qualifications in physics (nanotechnology and optics) and intellectual property law. He has worked as a lawyer since 2008, focussing on intellectual property since 2010. In addition to his legal qualifications, Michael is a qualified Patent Attorney.
Michael enjoys all aspects of IP practice including: infringement and invalidity advice, prosecution, oppositions and licensing matters. His experience in patents includes mechanical and electrical engineering, security technology, plastics engineering, materials technology, audio processing software and computer implemented methods. Michael acts as a consultant to Chrysiliou Lawyers in a broad range of IP matters with particular focus on patent litigation before the Federal Court. Michael’s number one priority is ensuring his clients choose the right legal and commercial strategy to achieve their objectives.
Interests: In his spare time, Michael enjoys ocean swimming, bush walking in national parks and travelling to far flung countries!
